Digital Media

The Digital Media Committee, formerly known as the Music and Technology Committee, has undergone an exciting transformation to better reflect our expanding role within The Fashion Show (TFS). We're thrilled to announce that we're now the driving force behind TFS Insider, the official podcast of the fashion show. Alongside our traditional responsibilities like capturing event footage and managing website updates, we're diving headfirst into new ventures. This year, we're breaking boundaries by producing original music for the show, led by our visionary director, Edgar Zaragoza.

Instead of settling for the status quo, we're crafting a one-of-a-kind soundtrack to elevate the event's atmosphere to new heights. And that's not all—our podcast lineup features some incredible guests, including the one and only President Wendy Wintersteen, who will be sharing invaluable insights and perspectives. Don't miss out on the excitement—tune in to our podcast for captivating episodes on Spotify here and on YouTube here. Join us as we celebrate the extraordinary talents and achievements within our vibrant TFS community!

Design

As the Design committee, our role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities crucial to the success of The Fashion Show. From coordinating events like Garment Turn-Ins, Fit Night, to overseeing backstage operations and finalizing the show's order, our efforts are integral to the seamless execution of the event. We are proud to highlight recent achievements, including the successful Initial Garment Turn-In and Fit Night, which mark significant progress in our preparation journey. As we eagerly anticipate the upcoming Final Garment Turn-In and Judging weekend, scheduled for April 20th in Stephens Auditorium, our focus intensifies. During this pivotal phase, esteemed guest judges—Karina Corona, Emily Clark, Colleen Pokorny, and Lea Doctcherman—selected by the Alumni Relations committee, will meticulously evaluate each submission, determining award recipients and final participants. With anticipation running high, we are ready to welcome our guest judges and showcase our collective talents, making it a night to remember! Join us as we celebrate creativity and innovation on April 20th!

Art

The Art committee within The Fashion Show at Iowa State University offers a platform for unleashing creativity. Collaborating closely with other committees, particularly social media, members of the Art committee contribute to bringing the visual theme of the show to life. A key responsibility of the Art committee involves crafting the yearly theme standards guide, commonly called a "style guide." This comprehensive document outlines guidelines for expressing the theme effectively, ensuring consistency and coherence throughout the event. Additionally, Art is tasked with designing the program for the show, a vital component in enhancing the audience's experience. Art also handles various art requests, ranging from social media posts to flyers, posters, and marketing materials like stickers and fashion show apparel. By seamlessly integrating artistry into The Fashion Show's operations, the Art committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the event's visual identity and overall success!

Alumni Relations

The Alumni Relations Committee at Iowa State University plays a pivotal role in maintaining connections with graduates, ensuring a strong bond between alumni and current students. The committee hosts an annual event prior to the fashion show, welcoming College of Human Sciences alumni for a celebration and networking opportunity. In addition to fostering alumni engagement, the committee selects and invites four industry professionals each year to serve as Guest Judges for the fashion show. Typically composed of ISU alumni from various sectors of the industry, these judges play a crucial role in selecting garments for the runway and distributing awards. The committee actively manages the Fashion Show LinkedIn profile, facilitating alumni interaction and aiding current students in expanding their professional networks. With a commitment to nurturing lasting connections and supporting the growth of both alumni and students, the Alumni Relations Committee continues to enhance the Iowa State fashion community!

Social Media

The Social Media Committee assists in content creation across all social channels to create a strong and uniform brand identity for The Fashion Show 2024. We collaborate in a team environment to brainstorm unique, innovative ways to increase engagement and reach on social media. We also create Reels, TikTok, and other videos to reach a larger audience and work with many other TFS committees to advertise all their events online! We have recently been up to posting TFS events and advertisements, more lifestyle content, and Fashion photos, such as Fit Check Fridays. We recently revamped TikTok and tried to post videos that stay on top of what is trending.

Philanthropy

The Philanthropy committee at The Fashion Show is responsible for organizing various charitable events throughout the semester. Their recent HugHats x Letters of Love collaboration marked a first-time partnership with Letters of Love, combining efforts to create hats and cards for donation to local children's hospitals. Next on their agenda is Dress for Success, a thrift event selling donated clothing to raise funds for underprivileged women, supporting the global not-for-profit organization's mission to provide professional attire. The committee's final philanthropic endeavor of the semester is a Sustainability event, aimed at repurposing scrap fabric into keychains to advocate for sustainable practices among ISU students and prospective high school graduates.

Visual Merchandise

Visual Merchandising is in charge of the more extensive advertising displays, such as the Lebaron Case display. Usually, a parks library is installed, but this year, we decided to branch out to other high-foot traffic areas like the Memorial Union. Finally, we collaborate with communities outside of ISU, like small businesses in Ames, such as Oak Lane Candle CO, where we look forward to putting up a display there soon!

Public Relations

We oversee all things outreach for the show! Our committee has been working with social media to set up eight giveaways for this year from local brands. We also have sent out around 40 media kits developed by our producers to local companies. The media kit offers different advertising options for brands to help give both us and them exposure! We have been planning our fashion week event! It will be in the innovation center, and we plan on having trivia. We’ve contacted local news stations and newspapers and planned what events they can come to for exposure! Recently, we have started the process of press passes and figuring out who will get those for the show! We’ve been collaborating with visual merchandising and have been communicating with a company on Main Street that is making a display for fashion week.
